WILLIS dna 1650 Wantage

DNA Linking dna I have Y-dna tested with Family Tree Dna ... 67 marker and autosomal, recently upgrading to 111 marker. I have joined the Oxfordshire Geographic project at FTDNA. (To learn more about DNA Linking dna, visit the DNA Linking page.)

Notes: I trace my oldest ancestor to John Willis, born about 1650 in Wantage. John WILLIS died in Dorchester County, Maryland, in 1712. He owned 50 acres of land near Cambridge, the county seat of Dorchester County. During this period, many landowners named their land, sometimes naming it after their home towns or villages in the Old World. John Willis named his land "Wantage". Through Family Tree DNA, a number of descendants are affiliated with this Maryland group of WILLISes.
