Notes: The JOHNSONís were men of the cloth and teachers around 1700-1800 in Yorkshire. The family name for eldest son was Marmaduke, and in 1788 a Marmaduke JOHNSON went to University College Oxford. Since then, many Marmaduke's have lived in the Oxford area up to the present day. However some married in Hanworth and Marylebone, London, and then moved back to Oxford, where they had businesses in the Walton St. area. A Marmaduke was postmaster at Bicester in c1861, a post carried on by one of his daughters after he died.
