DAWKINS 1700-1833 Over Norton

Notes: My name is James Dawkins and I am an MPhil/PhD history student studying under the supervision of Professor Catherine Hall at University College London. My study aims to build on the work of Professors Richard Sheridan, James Walvin, Simon Smith and Trevor Burnard, who have written detailed scholarly studies on 18th and 19th century patterns of, and connections between, land-ownership in Britain and the West Indies. I intend to do this through the history of the Dawkins family, tracking its procurement, expansion and divestment in English and Jamaican property between 1750 and 1833.
