Notes: Edward & Elizabeth TANNER of Chesterton, Oxfordshire, brought up 15 children, born between 1813 and 1841, in that village , and all lived to adulthood. I am interested in compiling a history of all of them for our family, as their second child and daughter, Martha, became my gt.gt.grandmother. The TANNER & HARPER families inter-married several times. Elizabeth was a HARPUR (sic) and eldest daughter Mary Harper Tanner married Charles HARPER in 1849 and Martha had married his cousin Thomas HARPER in 1840. Other daughters married into the HUMPHREY, BODDINGTON and GOLBY families, all with Oxfordshire links.
