HORTON | 1750-1820 | St Giles, Deddington |
MATTHEWS | 1750-1880 | Duns Tew, Deddington |
Notes: Hoping someone may be also researching theses families. Thomas MATTHEWS, baptised 13 Apr 1817 at St Mary Magdalen, Duns Tew, son of William MATTHEWS and Sarah (ARRIS?); siblings John (1812), Joseph (1815), Mary (1819), Samuel Charles (1827); all baptised Duns Tew. Thomas MATTHEWS married Lydia (HORTON?). They had the following children: Mary Ann (1839), Sarah (1841), Samuel (1842), Robert William (1850), Elizabeth Lydia (1856), (my 2xg grandmother). Lydia had on the family history register that was hand written that she was born St Giles Oxford, but as yet no one is able to find any record anywhere confirming this. We are assuming Lydia's surname was HORTON as we found a marriage for Thomas MATTHEWS & Lydia HORTON. Thomas and Lydia ran the Plough Inn, Deddington, for a number of years.
