Notes: My grandmother, Ada May PHIPPS was born on 14th May 1892. Her parents George Thomas PHIPPS and Annie PHIPPS nee WIGGINS lived at 2 Chilswell Road, St Aldates, by 1911 they had moved to 38 Chilswell Road according to the census. George was a tailor/robe maker and was in business Purnell, Phipps & Purnell, Tailors, robe makers, hosiers, hatters, shirt makers, outfitters 127 High Street, Oxford. Ada had a child out of wedlock (my mother-Marjorie May) who was adopted by Mrs Sarah Martin in 1913. Ada went on to marry a Harry Lawson Smith on 26 October 1918. I would like to find out anything relative to this line of my family.
