Notes: Have employed various CDs and downloads from Berks FHS to develop a comprehensive view of the Gibbins family in Moulsford. I am aware that many Moulsford baptisms were registered in nearby Cholsey. Identifying a marriage of a possible ancestor that moved from Clifton Hampden to Moulsford in what was Berkshire led me to explore South Oxfordshire. Obviously my family name has been registered over the years with different spellings : Gibbins, Gibins (late 18th century Moulsford) Gibbons (mostly 19th century Deaths due to illiteracy of the family unable to correct it. There is also a record of the isolated use of Gibbions (early 19th century again in Moulsford). I have the Abingdon Registration district of the Oxford Parish Regsiters CD and have identified a fair number of Gibbons in both Clifton Hampden and Culham areas but have properly completed that research. The marriage I was particularly interested in was in Clifton Hampden on 24 Oct 1723 - Edward Gibbons and Sarah Hapsom or Hapson. The records show the name of the groom as Edward Gibson but think this may be a clerical error as there is a string of births in the vlllage subsequently during the 18th century to Edward and Sarah Gibbons.
