Notes: I am working with a number of other DNA matches to try to figure out if we are connected to Reeves (this or alternate spellings) in Oxfordshire and nearby counties. We have 7 700-marker Y DNA tests that connect to a Charles Reeves that arrived in Canada in the early 1860s, marrying and having several children in Ontario. It appears that this Charles Reeves shares a common paternal ancestor with the other 6 Big-Y tests, that all appear to connect to a Walter Reeves, who died in New Jersey in 1698. Autosomal DNA tests show that descendants of this Charles Reeves match with a cluster of descendants of Joseph (or James) Reeves (1793-1848) of North Stoke and Mary Clifford, descendants who are now living in the UK and New Zealand. The common paternal ancestor between the Reeves in the US, descended from Walter, must predate Joseph Reeves, so I'm trying to follow his line back. His parents are Edward Reeves (1751-1805) and Jane Weedon. Would like to take this back to the early 1600s, if possible, based on the Y-dna time estimates.
